Even though Monday was Juneteenth, I still had a meeting with my professor for my directed-reading. We both chose an article to read about which will be helping me with the project I am doing for this internship.
This week, at my work, we discussed our project idea with the web development team, and they picked up some issue so we might not be able to finish our automated project for this fall. But we are still listing out ideas and going through the issues to find solutions.
One of my favorite parts of being an intern is reading the Education Diversity and Inclusion articles that my mentor suggests to me. Some of them are more dense and all of them are very engaging. Work can sometimes feel like a good class.
From this week, my work started as well as my 6 weeks summer classes, anthropology and psychology. I still need to fulfil some general education requirement, so I decided to take those this summer online.
The first full week at work went by fast. It’s only the second week and I feel like I’m getting into the swing of things: I have a grip on my project at work and I have begun to explore activities, museums, concerts and such in DC.
This week I moved to a city I’ve never been to on the exact opposite side of the country from where I grew up (Seattle) with only one suitcase and a backpack to be the Education and Diversity Statistics Intern for the American Physical Society (APS).
That’s a wrap. Signed, sealed, delivered. End scene. Or is it “and” scene… I’ve never been clear on that. Well, it’s a good thing this wasn’t an acting internship.
