University of Washington Bothell SPS is proud to announce that we're hosting the 2019 Zone 17 SPS meeting! Come join us April 19-20th in Bothell, WA for two days of fun, physics and socializing. Here are some basic information below on location, date, hotel, and travel funds. Over time, more information will be posted about competitions, demos, and lectures.
Location: the University of Washington Bothell, North Creek Event Center 18115 Campus Way NE, Bothell, WA 98011
Date: April 19/20th (20th is the main day)
Hotel Info: Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Bothell, WA (19333 North Creek Parkway Bothell, WA 98011 USA)
Group rate rooms for arrival on April 19th (Friday) for two nights. Hotel is offering a discounted rate of $109.00 for their rooms with two queen beds and $104.00 for single king accommodations. The tax rate is 12.4% and rates include their full breakfast buffet and wireless internet access.
Attendees can make reservations in the following ways: Online at https://www.countryinns.com/bothellwa, select arrival and departure dates, click on ‘more search options’ then type in the code SPS19. OR Toll-free at 800-456-4000, specify Bothell, WA and reference the block name, Society Physics Students.
There is a cutoff date for April 2, 2019, for guests to call in by to get the discount. Travel Funds: There is a pot of about $250 for the zone if anyone needs it for travel. This may include things such as a hotel or gas for travel. However, there is about $350 dollars left over from what the AZC/ZC get for travel fund. Additionally, in the past, the SPS office has provided additional support for the Alaska chapter(s) and are happy to do that again. Typically, they have just stretched the normal rules for our travel and reporter awards to provide $200 per Alaska student as long as they either present a poster/talk or write up an article for us. These can be applied for using the normal Awards system portal.
