When I opened my email on Monday afternoon, a copy of my own writing was waiting in the inbox. It was the short article that I’d written the week before. Andrew was sending it back with thorough critiques of word choice, writing style, and story structure.

This week has been pretty exciting, I have moved on from working with salt water and salt propanol to working with rhodamine-6G. When I ordered it off the internet, it came with a safety sheet that recommended a fume hood and a formal laboratory, but all I have is a garage and work table.

I find that I am really growing to appreciate my supervisors asking me to define my own deadlines. This week, I was also asked to begin writing meeting agendas for my bi-weekly meetings with supervisors. This has been great!

This was another fun week at APS Careers! I feel like I’m really making an impact on the community and am loving being around fellow physicists that care so deeply about helping the physics community progress and thrive.

Although my blogs the first two weeks were not very insightful, I do actually have a real job at APS. My job for the summer was to update the APS Top Educators lists and Physics Graphs & Statistics. All in all, lots of working in Excel.
