Rohit Raj

Biography

I am a rising senior studying Physics at Juniata College. My academic interests lie at the intersection of quantum field theory, particle physics, and cosmology, with a particular focus on understanding the vacuum of space from first principles. By gaining deeper insights into the vacuum, I aim to investigate the origins and fundamental building blocks of space-time curvature.

Throughout my undergraduate studies, I have been fortunate to participate in research internships each summer. These experiences have allowed me to explore a diverse range of topics, from LIGO data analysis and black hole signal detection methods to studying the kinematics of Andromeda. Currently, I am exploring rare and unusual stars in nearby galaxies and also conducting separate theoretical research on light-matter interactions in metamaterials. My additional interests include numerical simulations, quantum computing, and the application of AI/ML in understanding physical phenomena. I regularly conduct moderate-level simulations as part of my research.

I have been actively involved in the Society of Physics Students (SPS) since my freshman year, serving my chapter in various capacities and presenting at two national conferences. Looking ahead, I plan to pursue graduate studies at the intersection of QFT, particle physics, and cosmology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Professor of Theoretical Physics and furthering our understanding of the vacuum.
