SPS Leadership Scholarship
I am a senior at the University of Oregon majoring in Physics and Mathematics. I've done fluid dynamics research for a biology professor studying marine filter-feeders and am currently working on high energy particle physics research, a field I hope to pursue in grad school. I've been involved with SPS since my sophomore year and have served as Secretary and President. I was elected to serve on the 2017-2018 SPS National Council as Associate Zone Councilor for Zone 17. As I take on this role, I plan to serve as a student advisor for the new officers of my local chapter. I am dedicated to outreach and in my time as President, I implemented an outreach program where undergraduate volunteers travel to "high-risk" elementary schools to perform physics demonstrations in order to bolster an interest in STEM fields in disadvantaged communities; I plan to continue this outreach throughout my senior year.
