Augustana College
2020
SPS Leadership Scholarship
I am a senior at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, majoring in physics and applied mathematics and minoring in computer science. I will be the vice president of our SPS chapter and the Associate Zone Councilor for Zone 9 this upcoming school year. I have been doing research in experimental nuclear physics at Augustana since 2018, where I helped develop and characterize a charged particle telescope that has since been installed for use at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at Michigan State University. I am currently analyzing data from a test-run at MSU to prepare for experiments taking place later this year. In my free time, I express my artistic side by playing the trumpet in the Augustana Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to perform across the country with these ensembles. After my time at Augustana, I plan to pursue a graduate degree in either experimental nuclear or high energy physics.
